Default Hi guys! New to the site

Hi guys! I just stumbled across this site today and it looks pretty cool! I took up running about one year ago after spending ten years slowly getting in the worst shape of my life. I was 45 years old and couldn't walk from one end of my yard to the other without gasping for air. I weighed about 240 pounds (MUCH heavier than I had ever been).

I attempted a 5k on a dare on March 30 of last year. At about the 1.5 mile point, I literally thought I would die. I prayed that if I got across the finish line alive (running, walking, crawling, whatever) I would never be in this shape again.

Fast forward to March 5 of this year, I completed my first half marathon. I actually was able to finish in 1:56.34. My next goal is to run a 5k in 22:00. My 5k PR is currently 24:15, but it was few months ago. My weight is now 195 and I feel great. I'm at a point where I don't feel right if I don't get to run. It is the greatest stress relief I could imagine.

Anyway, enough about me. I'm glad to have found this site. It looks like a great place to share ideas with like minded folks. Thanks for having me!
