Default The Relay - 199 miles Calistoga to Santa Cruz

I'm not running this, but a buddy of mine is. It's typically a relay where 12 runners combine to run the full distance. My friend, Jon Burg, and 3 other friends of his are actually all running it solo. They're going to run together through the first 108 miles, and then might split up, depending on how they feel.

Here's Jon's gear laid out for the run. Wowza.

Good luck, Jon, and to your 3 friends. I'll be following online. For the record, you guys scare me, and inspire me, both at the same time.

Yeah, but I don't know who will actually be followed. I signed up for the text updates (text RELAY to 36638), but it never asked me who I wanted to follow Anthony Dunnigan is the "team captain", but my friend is Jon Burg. They're a 4-man team where they're each running it solo. They are bib #17, Running Feat. They start today at 6AM west coast time.

Couple of the guys will have their iPhone GPS' on, including Jon. And he said we can follow him here. The Relay Live Tracker

wow, that's some serious supplies! I think Dean Karnazes ran that one solo also? I can't even wrap my brain around it. That's more mileage that I do in a month - sometimes even in two months!

Jon COMPLETED the run in 58 hours. Damn! That is one hell of an effort. I'm hoping to talk to him about it in the next few days.
