Just joined the forum. I'm from Northern California and spent my high school years and summers between college running in Marin County on Mt. Tamalpais. I run the Dipsea and the Double Dipsea every year and love being on the trails. I'm now in Chapel Hill, so I don't get on the trails as much, but I've run a lot of trails in the 11 years I've been running competitively. If nothing else, they're a great way to get off the roads.

Trail running stories shared from other forumites would be wonderful.
The snow finally melted here in NY, took my first trail run (considering it had about a foot on them) since the summer yesterday.

Felt great to be back on them. Still cold and windy-but makes it better-as the trails are all mine!

I'm a trail runner by necessity! We have one paved road out here. I love it and found it to be the best training! Being able to run long distances across sand dunes and dirt trails translated to dramatic drops in my marathon times. I love getting absorbed in the scenery and being able to hear nothing but your footsteps and your breath.
