I have a heard time doing speedwork on tm. I know its one of the best ways to do speedwork as you can truly gague your speed but I've found speedwork to be less of a drag if I am doing it outside. I like fartleks the best.

I like to do my speedwork on the track, but now that's it is track/cross country season at the highschools, it's harder to find the time to use the track, since I generally run after work and that's when they are using it. but since i'm in marathon training mode, I'm not doing much speedwork anyways. I'll embed some tempo-paced miles into my runs, but because speedwork increases your chances of injury, I'm not really doing that right now.

It's kind of nice my apartment is a 1 mile loop so it feels like I am running a track however with asphalt.

Due to my Hamstring problems last year I haven't done any speed work in 6 months now.I used to do two 5k races a week and that was good enough for me but now I do alot of hills since my focas is now longer races and not 5k races and really push up the hills which makes you stronger also and I also do alot of tempo runs but that is it...No 400 or 800m on the track yet this year..I do notice a difference

I was using the TM but with the nice weather I can't make myself run inside. I've been setting aside every Monday for speed work and I haven't been using any plan. I've been Starting out slow in the first mile and gradually increasing speed with very mile. At the half way point I slow down to rest for one minute and then start up again. It's been working because I am noticing that I am faster on the shorter runs and today I ran 5.25 miles in 57.58 minutes. thats a very good speed for me.

Iam with you on running on tm. I'll do it but not to fond of it. Outside goes by much faster and feels easier to me which is weird because everyone says running is easier on a treadmill. I think its way harder speed for speed.

Good job CD

I LOve this site I did the TM thing when I started 2 years ago and bought one too but now it collects dust in the basement as my running progresses but I loved it as long as I kept the distances short and did a pre programed workout I was fine with it
