DirtDiva and Distance runner both have great accomplishments! Loking at this group as a whole has really given me a positive feeling about going further in my efferts to run distances. I am going to work on running my next 1/2 and as i'm training for that I will be giving serious thought to running a full in the next 2 years! My husband actually thinks that I can do it! I think that I would need help with it if I did!

Cd I believe whole heartedly you can do it!!!!!!!!! We will support you every step along the way. Running is physical but I think it's what's inside that gets you to the finish. And you have enough spunk and heart to get the job done!

So far, my greatest running accomplishment is that I have completed 6 5K's and a 7K so far this year. I am training for my first 1/2 marathon on June 6. Several years ago I started running, got injured, gave it up, gained a bunch of weight, got frustrated. In Nov. last year I decided 2010 was going to be the year I worked towards optimal health. Starting with a 5K on 1/1/10 I haven't looked back. I have gone 100% raw, am currently doing a 10 wk fitness bootcamp along with my training runs and life is GOOD! So glad I found this forum through facebook, as non of my loved ones get it. Although short races, no one at the finish line for me either. But met lots of great people to share the moment with. I have a 12K the weekend before my 1/2 and I am kinda hoping since it is only 10 minutes from home my husband will come see that one. Anyone here doing any of the Stillwater, MN runs on Memorial weekend?

My husband isn't much for coming with me either but he is starting to get it and is trying! I hate it when I am alone at these events because I'm not really good at starting up conversations with strangers. It feel somewhat less enjoyable when there is no one there to root you on! But there is still power in the race itself when you conceive it,believe it and achieve it! You also have this group of runners who will be there for you on in spirit!

I'm so happy to have found RR. Everyone is so inspiring and encouraging.

I've accomplished a lot that I'm proud of already (6 marathons). I will be running chicago in October and my goal is to PR, so that means a 3:25 or better. I'm most proud that I have been able to improve my marathon time (even as I age, he he) and continue to stay injury-free with all my training.

That being said, I would say my greatest accomplishment is realizing I can get better every year and I can do it with smart training and not overtraining. I've even taken all my lessons and training experiences and am writing a marathon training book which is due to be released on May 20th....more details to come.

Great thread, I really enjoy reading everyones story. I;m motivated to go run now

I am running Chicago as well. My first marathon so will be about an hour behind you if things go well. Keep me posted on the release of your book. I want to buy a copy. It will be good timing for me.
