The miles are now getting above 13.1 just training. Still no issues with the shoes or any other parts. I'm gonna keep training in the Frees for now.

When I was in Salt Lake last summer, I fell in love with the Vibram 5 finger shoes. The calf soreness comes from your change in stride, putting you up on your toes like when you run through a sand dune. However, when I got back home and ran with my xc team on some rougher trails, I ended up with major pains right at the base of my toes (sprain/strain of the foot?). I think the trails were too rough/rocky for the minimalist shoes I have, so I switched back to my Brooks. However, when doing track work I will put them on and have no problems. My experience: Good for road/track running, not so much for trails.

Just this weekend, thanks to a forming blister, I ended up hiking 8 miles barefoot on a welcoming, sandy trail... just a few pine needles. I loved the feeling as it stretched my feet out... kind of like yoga for your feet!

I'll run barefoot on the treadmill and sometimes on the football field... when it's not covered in goat poo and bullheads.

Goat poo hu... nasty! we have geese that cover our fields up here. But I like to run down the gravel trail in the park or around the neighborhood.
