Thanks for following me around the boards with support and advice. I'm happy with the training so far, and in my own program I did want to go the distance in training for my own mind. I also planned on a normal 2-3 week taper before race day, cutting out the speed work and just running out the string. When I began doing long runs over the past year(took winter off) i was 10min/mile+ and now I'm down to 9's and under and I credit it to the speed work. So i'd like to continue that at least for a couple more months. I know what's going to work for me, ultimately, is what works for me. Does that even make sense?

69 days to go! I'm not anxious yet, but I know it's coming. I have to keep trusting the training!

Right now:Mon.-rest

Wed.-stretching/abs/weights
Thurs.-tempo...i do anywhere from 3 to 6 depending on how i feel
Fri.- same as Wed.
Sat.-easy run 3-5 usually
Sun. -long run...i increase every 3 weeks...stepback 1 (i'm at 15 miles now with 5 months to go)

Hals: Mon.-rest
Tues.-3mile run
Wed.-5mile run pace
Thurs.-3mile run
Fri.-rest
Sat.-longrun (can be switched w/Sun.)
Sun. cross train
All these miles increasing as the weeks go by, the longs incresing every 3 stepback 1

Am I on the right track? Should I switch? Should I just do what's comfortable for ME, as long as I have a couple 20 milers in there? I bow to others better knowledge. Thanks in advance!
I am training for my first marathon, too. Mine is 13 weeks out at this point. Using Higdon's Intermediate 2 schedule. From what you've written, it seems this schedule would be perfect for you. I considered Intermediate 1, but liked that 2 bumped it up a notch. good luck to you!

Good luck to you, also. I've altered my training so much since I began. My totals are between 30-40 miles weekly now. Since I started so early compared to at 18 weeks, I'm now running a 20 mile long every other week. My hours at work haven't helped the last couple weeks, but I feel I have a great base under me now.
