Default Nervous for Half Marathon

For some reason I am more nervous for my half marathon coming up May 2nd than I was for Napa. Don't get me wrong, I was freaking out for Napa but I also put in the long runs for it. I've been slacking this time around. I've been putting in some miles. But not the long runs I've been looking for. I did get a 10 mile run in Thursday but then there is days where my legs just feel tired. When I was training for Napa I felt real driven. Does anyone get a little depressed after a Marathon? I am registered for Bizz in October. My son told me today, "If you can run a marathon once, you can do it again." I had alot of doubt at that moment though. Maybe I need this Half Marathon to remind me of what my goals are. Just venting to a great group of runners.

Depression after a large planned event is normal! You've put so much energy into the event itself tha when it's over there is loss of that single focus. It's like your wedding day. You put 10 miles in so 13.1 isn't that much more. You can do it!!!! Plan a reward that you can look foreward to after the run that will take your focus past the event itself! If your legs feel tired then look ino getting compression sleeves for running or get some compression sockings from the medical supply store to wear in between runs for those days that your legs feel tired. May 2nd is coming up fast. Take your long run but do it early on your day off. Have it end at your favorite restaurant within walking distance from home, and have your son meet you there at the end of your run for breakfast! I love those runs! But my all time favorite is still got to be the Star Bucks finish line

I haven't run a marathon but I've run some halfs. My first was definitely the easiest. I had no expectations. I simply wanted to finish. I was much more nervous for my 2nd ones because I remembered the pain at mile 11 and I didn't want to do worse than before. You have such a different perspective when you've already done it.
You will do great. It's only half of what you've already done...not that long ago. I think you and your son need to do something really special afterwards to celebrate and give you something to work for and look forward to. If there is anyway he can be at the finish line, make it happen. Make sure your sister or whomever knows how much it means to you to have him at the finish.
I truly believe if your legs feel tired, they need to rest. Give yourself some time to rest. I think it's so important to listen to your body. You'll feel strong again. Just another example of the ups and downs that go with running. We're here for ya!!

That is exciting! I hope that you are watching out for flinstone and his cloun car! I had to miss my run yesterday do to scheduling conflicts and today was bust my ab's day at the gym so I ran a 1/2 mile at top pace before I started my work out. Tomorrow I will be running the course for my Dash for destiny 5k to check it out! I read a review that said the end had a killer hill! I have run the area lately and there are some steep hills so I'm going to check it out tomorrow by running the course as part of my run! I will also be sporting my newest running gear Asic 1150's hope that they are a good fit. Run your haldlike your running your long run at home! Don't think of any one around you and if you do see them naked That should keep you laughing and cut the stress of the start line in half!
