Default Yoga

I love to practice almost as I love to run. Yoga is full of small goals that you need to work towards...with lots of practice. Just like running.

I usually do yoga at home on my scheduled day off. I find that I do not need lots of room and only the TV. I use Rodney Yee DVD's. I like the way his practice flows and I like his voice.

I would say that yoga is the perfect workout...it helps to stretch and strengthen your whole body. Long and lean. If you think yoga is wussy...I urge you to try it. It is butt kick'n.

It helps to strengthen your upper body while helping with balance. Things that are important in running. For my second full my upper body was so sore...esp my neck. From holding the proper running form for so long. After a year of yoga I didn't have those problems for my third.

anyone else practice? who do you use? I am always looking for a new DVD. I can suggest Power yoga with rodney yee...love it.

I'm a yogi, too. I even moved my dining table and chairs up against the wall so I could have my own little yoga studio in my apartment. I set up my lap top and go for it.

I use a varity of yoga DVDs and I also do the free podcasts that way when I'm on a trip all i need is my iPod and a little space in the hotel room.

Nothing gets your day started right like a hot room practicing slow burn yoga.
I have a new instructor and she is good. I was sweating like crazy and my whole body was shaking after it was over! Now I feel totally relaxed! This will be a great weekend starter!

I love yoga. At my previous job, there was a class twice a week during the lunch hour that I never missed. I was nervous at first, wondering if I'd be the only guy in class, but I was determined to try it. Turns out, if there were 15 people in the class on a particular day, 7-8 of them were guys. That made it a very comfortable introduction for me, and now I'd feel OK walking into any class. I'm not the best at it, but I really enjoy it.

Now, I use FitTV's "Namaste Yoga" shows to get some practice in (Ch 261 on DirecTV). I DVR them, go through them a few times, erase them, DVR some others, and repeat. I wish I was more diligent about it. Hmmmm....maybe this post will get it back into the front of my mind to do it more regularly. I hope so.

I've checked out yoga for runners on line and have used some of their poses. I find that I do those poses in class and then if I feel tight I do them after my run.

WOW great info...I had been thinking of doing yoga and now I will definitely find a class. I'm stiff as a board and have been all my life so now that I am approaching the half-century mark (in a year I might add) it's time to get flexible!
