Default PR'ed by 2 seconds!

I ran my first 5k back in Feb (Mardi Gras in Dallas). It took me 38'22 with a walk break due to cramps in the middle. I was the last of my group to finish, but we all finished within a few minutes of eachother.

So last week was the Dash Down Greenville St. Paddy's day run. I'd already been warned that the route had some extreme hills (not to mention the beer mile!) so I decided to just run for fun and not worry about my time. Lo and Behold, I beat myself by 2 seconds! I hit the hills, enjoyed my green beer at mile 1, just jogged along (with no walk break this time!) and still beat my time!

I know 2 seconds isn't a lot but to know I could beat my time without even really trying really boosted my morale. I can't wait to see what kind of time I can get if I try on my next race!

Good job, it is fun to run a race, just for the fun of doing it and you not only got to enjoy a green beer but you improved your time! I really liked reading your post - sounds like it was fun. keep up the good work.

It was in Dallas. Mile one was the "beer mile" and at the end Rahr and Sons sponsered the finisher's tent with free beer "better than any finisher's medal" accordint to their banner.

Thanks for all the support, guys. I've tried a couple other running boards but none have been so welcoming as Runners Rule!

Great job. Have you scheduled another race yet? I bet on a flat course where you don't drink beer on the route you could kick your PR big time. However, beer drinking is one of my favorite things to do (I am from Wisconsin) and so that race sounds like a blast!!! Very fun.
